We stayed in Chiang Mai longer than expected, to be at the Chiang Mai flower festival & catch up with Thomas again. We had mega problems trying to locate each other as couldn't find his guest house & he had the wrong details for ours. Then by accident we wandered into another guest house looking for other friends we had met on the way & there he was at reception hav9ing to move from his original guest house due to the noise.
I will upload loads of photos of the flower displays, the street festivities, the flower festival beauty pageant, & the street parades with floats. Because of the volume I am uploading I won't add captions to each one (you wouldn't believe how long doing the photos can take in some of the internet cafes, especially when you have to turn them around. Sorry still no photos from Gill's camera as still have no means to download them!)
So Mum - these flower pictures are especially for you as I know you would have loved to attend a flower festival like this. It has been a great & festive 3 days & the flower dispays are wonderful, and the colurs of the flowers speak for themselves. The Saturday parade with the dressed floats was fantastic (but went on too long, so we didn't stay to see them all). There are also some pictures of some interesting local delicacies on offer at some of the street stalls!
