We spent 3 days visting the temples, which along with the Taj Mahal & the Great Wall in China, is one of the 3 main highlights of our trip. There is something like 85 temples surrounding Siem Reap, with Angkor Wat itself being the 'Big Daddy' of them all.
The first day was extra hot & humid. I alone got through 3 big bottles of water. The temples we visited in order were: The South gate into Angkor Thom, Bayon, Elephant Terrace, Baphuon, Galzent, Thom Nan, Ta Keo, Ta Prohm (the Tombraider film temple), Barteay Koke & Kantei. Ending the day on the hill above Angkor Wat for some sunset shots (not good as cloudy by then). One thrill of the day was Steve & Caroline's tuk tuk ran into a Janapense tourist who just stood in the middle of the road ignoring the tuk tuk driver honking at her. Their tuk tuk went over but fortunately no one was hurt, although the Japanese tourist was in a state of shock for some time & taken to the hospital for a checkup in a police car. Absolutely exhausted by the end of the day!!!
Day two was cooler thankfully. Visited: Preah Rup, Banteur Rei, East Mebon & Preah Khan. I'm sure there were more but Gill didn't list them. No dramas today
One day three we got up t 4.45am to do the sunrise tour of Angkor Wat (the big one). In the afternoon we visited 2 temples in the Rolous Group. Late afternoon we returned to the hill above Angkor Wat to drink a bottle of wine with the sun going down & take more sunset shots. Everyone is very envious of my sunset shots!
Due to the limitations of the internet here in Cambodia I don't have the time to name each picture unfortunately.
